Melting Ice
October 14, 2024
Welcome to Day 13 of promoting my next release - Time for Love. I’ve been working on this collection for about four years. The romantic collection has twenty short stories - ten about how a couple got engaged and ten about how a couple met. The story I’m going to talk about today is Melting Ice, a short story taking place on the First Day of Summer 2022.
Ainsley is surprised when her best friend plans a vacation for the two of them in Alaska. She’s even more surprised when her friend reveals the reason they are in Alaska. Oliver is a letter carrier who crosses paths with Ainsley twice in one day. Were they meant to cross paths? What happens next? You’ll have to read the 19th story in the collection to find out.
How does this story relate to other stories in the gagengirl universe?
Ainsley was created in Falling Leaves, as one of Autumn’s future nieces.
Oliver was created as the brother of a character in a pilot episode I wrote. He shares his sister’s story with Ainsley.
There is another character who appears that previously appeared in another short story in this collection. I don’t want to say who, because I want it to be a surprise.
What can you share about Ainsley?
Ainsley has an interesting family history. It is revealed within the story and I don’t want to spoil that. She met her best friend Ellie while attending Michigan State University. Ellie is the only person in the world with whom she’s shared that interesting family history.
And what can you share about Oliver?
Oliver lives a relatively quiet life with his dog Oscar. Most days, he goes straight home to his dog. But every once in a while, he stops for a drink first.
Is there anything else you’d like to share about this story?
It’s a romance, the story of how Ainsley and Oliver met. Because her friend planned this vacation, Ainsley’s life is forever changed.
Do you know which story you’ll tell us about tomorrow?
Yes. Tomorrow’s story is Strawberry Shortcake.
